Connor College Consulting - Based in Oregon

As a former elite college athlete, Kathy Smith Connor specializes in working with high school student/athletes looking to pursue their sport in college. Her passion for college consulting combines her psychology training, a love of working with teens, and her organizational and management experience to empower and encourage high school students in the sometimes bewildering and often arduous college selection and admissions process. As an independent college consultant, she acts as a guide, coach, and advocate for students and their families throughout their college admissions process. Her goal is to reduce a family’s stress and increase clarity and confidence as you navigate the entire journey together.

A graduate of Stanford University with a B.A in Psychology, Kathy had a long career in educational travel before completing her College Counseling certificate at UCLA’s highly regarded College Counseling program. Additionally, Kathy competed for Stanford Women’s Swim Team on a full athletic scholarship. During her 4 years at Stanford, Kathy won 21 NCAA All-American awards and was the 1986 Pac-10 Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was a member of numerous U.S. National Teams from 1980 to 1987, was an alternate to the 1980 U.S. Olympic Swim Team. Students considering playing a sport in college also face the added stress of athletic recruiting. This includes identifying the appropriate NCAA Division level of play, recommending best fit college teams, developing effective communications with coaches to maximize interest and understanding NCAA academic standards and recruiting rules. She builds a young person’s independence and initiative by walking through a strategic and methodical series of steps with faith, humor and perspective, ultimately selecting and securing admission and all available financial aid to an exciting and best-suited college for each student.
