The ECS Star System
ECS uniquely provides a rating of college selectivity and lacrosse levels at the corresponding college or university. ECS is the only provider of this information that ignores the NCAA divisions and instead focuses on the general level required to play at the selected schools and their admissions selectivity.

What the ECS Selectivity Rating is not: it is not a rating of how good is the school. There is no "best" college, instead only colleges that are best for the attributes that a particular student seeks. Those attributes include not only admissions selectivity, but also size of the school, offered majors, campus setting, geographical location, and a host of other tangible and intangible variables that will determine what's the best school for you.

The ECS selectivity rating is a gauge of how difficult it is to gain entry into a college or university. This selectivity is computed using a number of factors including acceptance rate, acceptance yield, standardized test scores, and high school performance of admitted students. That said, there are many variables that influence your chances of being accepted, many not related to academic performance.

The Field Hockey Ratings provide guidelines to the level of play at the various schools. A number of factors determine what level college of university will be interested in you as a player, including a particular coach's needs and his view of you as a player. The star rating will give you an indication as to the relative strength of the ECS schools.
